Nutrition: Milk - "It does a body bad, real bad"

For years milk has been touted and advertised as doing the body good. It has been commercialized as something that is good for you and rich in calcium. Unfortunately, the people who sell you this stuff care more about your money then your health. Now, don't get me wrong, its ok to get a little milk in your diet, but getting it on a frequent basis may be one of the worst nutritional habits you have today.

For the last 30 years, nutritional experts and even Doctors have been observing the harmful effects of milk.

Dr. Cohn Campbell, professor of Nutritional Sciences found some amazing results from the largest study on diet and disease in medical history. Dr. Campbell directed the study; China-Oxford Cornell and in the study he found the following.

"Higher animal calcium and animal protein intake is the primary cause of degenerative disease."

The Primary Cause! It's now a documented fact that dairy products lead to the development of atherosclerosis(artery and cholesterol problems), Heart attacks, and strokes.

Now, I'm not expecting you to get rid of all the dairy products in your diet, just some of them. It has been shown by research and study that consuming 24 ounces or more of dairy products can cause what is called "calcium wash". When this happens, calcium and other critical minerals are washed from the blood stream causing a negative calcium and mineral balance.

This data has been met by the promotion of nonfat and low fat products. However, nonfat and low fat products have more animal based proteins in them. This leads to osteoporosis, kidney problems, and certain forms of cancer. Either way, whether its whole, nonfat or low fat, milk is not something you want to get a lot of.

Here are a few other facts on milk;

  • Babies that are fed cows milk suffer more of the following; middle ear infections, respiratory infections, bacterial meningitis, neo-natal septicemia, thrush, viral illnesses, polio, influenza, spinal meningitis, herpes, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, spastic bowel disease, immune disorders, diabetes, liver disease, coronary heart disease, multiple sclerosis, obesity and food allergies.
  • Better sources of calcium can be found it fruits, veggies, grains, organic calcium.
  • These are often better because they don't have animal protein. Excessive animal protein leads to weakened bones.
  • The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), milk consumption latter in life actually contributes to bone loss. Not Gain.
  • PCRM urges women to exercise, reduce meat, sodium, and caffeine to help with osteoporosis.
  • They also assess that cows milk may also cause diabetes, ovarian cancer, cataracts, iron deficiency in children and adults.
  • Harvard Nurses Study shows that milk doesn't protect against fractures based on a study with 77,761 women between 34 and 59 years old during a 12 year study. Also found that fracture rates actually rose with increased milk consumption.

As you can see, milk really doesn't do a body good at all. Milk should be limited in ones diet for health reasons too important to overlook.
